InsomniaThe low light of the bedroom plays on his sandy hair. I watch him sleep entangled in the comforter. I only enjoy my own not being able to sleep because I can watch him. The years leave his face as he dreams, he might be twenty-five again as he dreams. I lean in to catch his scent, the scent of comfort and home. I think of this now...I should be sleeping with my love...I should dream but would nightmares come? Would I want to wake him as I did the night before this to come back to his love and away from the place I was? Would I need him to hold me when the memories came? Why can't I forget what hurts at night and just listen to his breathing? Insomnia
